CNoR 3rd Class Depot in Cereal, Alberta
Cereal Alberta is about 300 km East of Calgary on Highway 9 on the way to Saskatoon. It was named after the number of grain crops grown in the area used for breakfast cereals. Not surprisingly, farmers relied on the railroad to ship their crops to major markets.
The Canadian Northern, later Canadian National Railway used this design in several locations across Canada and into Minnesota. This 3rd Class depot has been moved slightly west of the original site to it's present location, and along with other buildings from the area is now part of museum. We had occasion to visit while on route to another site, and had a personal guided tour.
